Hi all,
My classroom acara has developed a redness at the base of one of his fins. The other side does not look like this. It looks swollen. Is there anything wrong or anything I need to do to help this? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Can you tell us something about the conditions in which he is kept--tank size, water parameters, filtration, temp, water change schedule, tankmates etc?

45 gallon, aqua clear 70 filter, temp 78-80*F water change 20% every other week, tank mates: one koi angelfish, a handful of tetras (a few rummynose and a few peppermint tetras), and three orange laser corydoras. I haven’t checked the parameters in a while. I can do that next week

When I see a skin abnormality I check water parameters ASAP. Also IMHO water changes should be weekly, especially if you are only doing 20% exchange.
