i have just posted a question on the beginner board, and am coming here to introduce myself. i am the mother of a 12 year old child. our child has wanted an aquarium for a while now, since she saw our little betta bowl at my work.
i found a great 5 gallon starter kit at the thrift store, so we picked it up. i didnt want to get a betta for her because our house gets cold, and i know they like to be warm. there is so much more to 'this' than i ever thought.
we live in the frozen north, in canada. we are animal lovers and have several dogs and cats. we have never had fish.
i did care for the betta at work. i looked up the information on it on the internet and followed the directions. i made sure 'he' had a gallon bowl, because the info said they need that much. he had a plant to hide in, i fed him mosquito larve(sp?) because they said he would be stimulated by live prey.
