Hi everyone,

My parent's sailfin mollies gave birth to a load of live young, and I have 9 of them in a nursery net at the moment. I've had them for about 3 weeks now, so they're about 4 weeks old in total.... they're all stll white in colour though.... I just wondered if anyone could tell me when I can expect to see some colour on them?

Their parents were a bright orange male with no dark spots at all.... just pure orange with bright orange eyes to match ^_^ and their mother was a beautiful pure silver - again, with no other colours.... what do you think I'll get? Do the "grandparents" genetics come into it, or can I expect a mix of orange/silver ones?

I would say that if they are not showing any color after four weeks then they are probably all silvers. The color would be more in the scales and a silver fish may appear white untill they get a bit larger. My orange swordie fry have had a tiny bit of orange color at birth but it gets darker as they develop. The stomachs get lighter colored after they have been fed and the belly swells.

i dont think the colour of the babies match the parents because i think my dalmation molly mated with my balloon molly and the babies are black and yellow
so i dont really know :dunno:
