I thought I'd make the last few days of this darn cycle fly by through the creation of a little seven day only thread. Today was the first double 0 day, verrrry exciting considering how long it's taken to get to this point!

So this is day 1 -
ammonia: 0
nitrites: 0

Nitrates at least 40ppm, you won't get any nitrate readings for a while yet.

Thanks, I`m just trying to get as many views as I can

I thought I was going to be lucky after an encouraging first test that saw 5.00 ppm reduced to 0.25ppm after 24 hours, but since then it`s been taking 2 days to reduce

Did you use elevated temps and add aeration ?

Nope to neither, you just need the patience of a saint. :)

Since I retired I`ve tried watching paint dry and watching the grass grow, so I thought I`d take up fishkeeping to give me something to do, and now I`ve ended up watching a test tube turn green !!!!

Watching autotrophic bacteria grow is similar to the other two activities. You should, though, raise your tank temperature to 29C/84F and ensure that there is movement of the surface water if you are fishless cycling.
