ok so our marine tank has been running for just over a month now and there is still brown algae living in the tank! It is starting to go now but the rocks have quite alot on it! Myself i dont mind it being there on the rocks but my mom hates it! My question is that if i fill a bucket up wioth fresh water (salted) would i be able to take some of the worst rock out and clean it in the water then dispose of the water afterwards?
thanks

i have one, currently i have 12 hermits, 4 turbo snails, 1 spiny urchin and 1 cleaner shrimp. i know i need more but what should i get and how many??
also should i just leave the rock as it is?

How big is your marine? Whatever the size, I would have used more astrea snails and less hermits. I'm not a big fan of hermits as cleaners...I think they are underachievers. My astrea's pour over my LR like vacuum cleaners. SH

do they clear brown algae aswell as eat waste of the bed? Because is so i will get some of them!
my tank is an aquamedic chromis

what type of water are you using? what type of light? how often do you feed them? and is your tank close to a window

you may have to increase the flow rate in the tank.
if you are running only the pumps/powerheads that came with the chromis it is a relatively low turnover.
try adding a couple more powerheads.l

Increase your flow rate (10xtank volume per hour)
Check your water quality, this is usually an indication of high nitrates or phosphates, make larger regualr water changes to keep nutrient levels low and this should slowly turn the tide in the battle again algae.
