As with my previous posts, i am still having 'suspended matter' issues with my setup and its driving me bl**@y MAD!

Just to explain: Rio 180 with aquarium sand, bogwood a few plants and eheim ecco 2236 external with all baskets filled with media with top one has filter floss in, bottom has blue filter in. 9w uv filter.

Outlet in right rear, inlet in left rear pointing at 45 degrees across tank.
Now obivously i'm no rocket scientist  but am i expecting too much? and if i didn't do any water changes and vacuming, would the water eventualy clear? I water change and vacum once a week and it doesn't clear between them.
Now surely as the filter is rated at X lph (its a lot) the 'suspended matter' should be seen to be pulled to the outlet?

Maybe i should start again, cos it is doing my head in and i want to :shout:

Anyone got good or bad comments as to what i'm doing right or wrong?

:(

it can be a frustrating thing. I have a 55G tank whose water is so clear it looks like it's empty, and I have another tank that looks like the filter is broke because of all the suspended solids.

I think it may be a problem with flow dynamics between the outlet and input of the pumps. My "dirty" tank is a 30G cube with a rena XP2 (300GPH) and a bio-wheel 350B HOB (350GPH), which means that I'm filtering the water over 21 times per hour, yet it's still dirty looking. I was able to get is significantly cleaner by adjusting where the intakes and outlets are in the tank, but haven't found a perfect solution.

I just got another 29G tank, and it is looking like it's going to be a "dirty tank" as well.

Other than that, I would make sure that you're getting good flow through your filter - you can take out the spraybar, and it should be shooting a good long ways.

Ive got the same filter on a 125 litre and its crystal clear water i get. could be that you havent packed the filter baskets so the floss is floating about and dirt seeping around it. I had the same problem with the 2232 but once i packed it to the brim particles vanished.

By packed to the brim do you me over filled then squash it in with the lid? the top basket with the floss in has no media just the floss, (just a thought, what if use floss instead of the blue prefilter? good or bad idea?
