Hello everyone! I just got 3 goodeids!
This has been one of my wishlisted fish for a very long time.
very very interesting, compared to other livebearers they tend to stay to the bottom(maybe because they are just nervous)
I'm not sure what species they are, only labeled as characodon. @emeraldking do you have any ideas? They are not very vibrant because of stress...

looks like Characodon lateralis there are a number of locations and colour variation ,
They spend much of their time swimming from bottom to mid water level They do well at a tank temperature of 70 to 74f. .brood size usually less than 20 fry, gestation period 6 weeks will accept any food offered To keep them in best conditions live food should be added to the diet.

Yes, like fish48 has already mentioned, they're Characodon lateralis. Quite easy to keep. Low temperatures preferable (so, a heater is not needed). If you keep the temperature too high, they will wither. Best kept between 15°C - 22°C (preferably lower). That would be equal to 59°F - 71°F. Not too much water flow. These are omnivores. And yes, they'll live at the bottom till mid region of the tank. They love to have some hiding spots.
If you'd like to combine them with other fish, bes ure that those other fish are a bit calm. If those other fish are too vivid in the tank, these splitfins will hide more and more.

Do they tend to stay towards the very bottom, bellies touching ground?
i have many pearl gouramis and xiphophorus which are very calm since they are huge

Sometimes they do touch the bottom of the tank with their bellies. But don'ty be afraid that they'll hurt themselves.
