mommy should come back at dusk, i'll see if i can get some more pictures then.

What a cute little fawn! =)

I drove over to my friend Zach's house a few weeks ago, and as we pulled up to his house there was a tiny fawn just laying by his doorstep. She came up and actually sniffed us, it's wierd how trusting they are when they're young. Her Mom came back later, too.

The poor baby all by itself! Its like bambi running into the field isn't it?? I'd worry why the poor thing was alone, that maybe the mommy wasnt "being drawn" anymore

oh sweet thing. look at those little antler bud. looks like you surprised him wit the flash in that third picture. or was he saying back off? -lol-

does often leave fawns somewhere to stay hidden while they go out into open territory to graze.

We actually didn't noticed him until 1:00. My mom has a daycare so kid had been yelling, shouting, and riding toys only 10ft. away. He was sleeping through it all, but once we relized he was there all the kids had to be quiet.

At about 9:15 i saw mommy coming through the woods and when i went back out a 9:30 the little guy was gone. :byebye: Hope he lives a good life :good: .

Just as starrynightxxi said does do leave the fawn for most of the day. The fawn stays exactly where the mom left it until she returns. Fawns also carry no scent so it's hard for predetors to find them when they are hidden.

Ahhhh how gorgeous and lovely piccies :good:

They actually just had a big thing in the paper the other day to appeal to people to leave these fawns alone. Apparently there is in influx of "abandoned fawns" that people take into their local wildlife centre, RSPCA's etc.

When I still worked as a vet nurse came Spring time - we just couldn't keep up with the baby birds that were brought in (completely healthy and unharmed) on a daily basis :grr:
