Okay, in case you didn't already know I run a 75 gallon reef setup... I use live rock and until 2 hours ago two skimmers both hang on models. Seaclone Protein Skimmer and a coralife Super Skimmer, for about 6 months both units worked quite well the Super Skimmer always pulling out the most skimmate of course. Then about one week ago I noticed sponges’ growing in my Seaclone and performance was at an all time low, I decided to myself sadly the sponges had to go.

Monday my day off, wakeup cook a few eggs and some Canadian bacon. Afterwards decide its time to clean the Seaclone; I disassemble most of the parts of it remove the foam and clean it everything going as planed. Then came the time to remove the sponges inside the Seaclone, they (about 20 of them) live between the two cylinders in the skimmer. I took my time and examined the unit, and went about figuring out the best manner of proceeding in the removal of the nasty sponges… turning the unit upside down pulling on attachments, using my Jedi force and nothing! I sat down in the kitchen with the Seaclone on the table about two feet in front of me. For about 20 minutes thinking “did they really make the skimmer like that?†“No no it can’t beâ€. I never really cared about it; I don’t morn its loss, but what where they thinking when they made this? I can’t believe people where paid to design a Seaclone! I also find it a shame some pet stores sell this unit? Why? They know, and should be embarrassed about selling such junk.

so in the end.. nobody should buy it.. nobody should talk 2 anybody who sells it.. and whoever made it should be shot :good: lol

Yeah, thats the real travesty here. Christ they could have paid me to design something that worthless

If you look inside the rim of the skimmer where the cup sit's you'll se a black O ring this can be taken out with a knife and then the inner rise tube comes outs the trick is cleaning the bottom chamber for witch you'll need to go to a plumming store and get yourself a boiler brush kit (That what there called in the UK) you get 3 differant size brushes and 3 long screw poles. With this you can feed a brush head into the bottom chamber of the skimmer to cleane it.

Or even better throw it away and have a realy expensive powerhead!!!!

I checked this morning.. and on the website.. the "new" models have that clip the old ones dont.. its now in the garbage after i humm punished it :shout:
