I'm not putting up a link, because I don't want anyone to steal him. ;) He's GORGEOUS, but I can't afford anything but the minimum bid. :p

Anyways, the question. The guy said that shipping is $5 from Thailand to here plus the cost of the transshipper, but he wasn't sure how much that was. So, approximately how much should I be looking to spend on shipping?

Hmmm, think I spent $40 or $45 for overnight with fedex. I think that would be a maximum.

Oh, wow... definitely can't afford that much... :( I was hoping maybe another 5-10. (I can't really even afford that, but what can I say, he's GORGEOUS!) Oh well, I'll just have to wait for the next one, I guess. :p

You can email and ask for a free quote. They're pretty good at being quick about it. But be sure to give your zip code.

I was quoted at $20-35 bucks from two different shippers. (Course I think they both lived in Colorado and I'm in California).

Find out which trans-shipper he is sending the fish too. Then e-mail her and ask what the shipping prices are, they will have several options for you to choose from.

Although, my 2 fish were suposed to be shipped to the trans-shipper on the 28th, and I've yet to hear from the trans-shipper yet, even though I e-mailed her.

I've never paid over $24 for overnight shipping myself when ordering a fish from Thailand, but added to the $20 and the $5 shipping fee I generally spend on the fish, that does make the entire expenditure $45.

Ordering from AB is not cheap, even if you find cheap fish....unless you get fish that are already in the states, and then you're only saving the $5 shipping fee.

But, during the warmer months you are able to ship Priority Mail, so it shouldn't cost as much as Next Day Air does.

If you don't find out and post before I find out..I'll post it so everyone knows  .

I don't know why mine cost so much to ship, but I just went back and checked my paypal account and my payment to Linda Olsen from Eastern Bettas was $45.60. That is what she told me fedex overnight would cost, she also claimed the cheaper USPS wouldn't do overnight to me in PA from where she was. She does seem much more expensive than other transshippers. :(

She charges you for a box and heat pack and treated water. Although I thought they all did that as well.

I've used both her and one of the others, I forget the name right this moment, but that seems high...although I have never used the Fedex Overnight (she gave me the option because it was higher). I usually use Next Day Air option..via the Postal Service.
