A Quick Question On Skimmers + A Ref

if i have a good refugium can i get a smaller skimmer? i was thinking of getting a 500L tank but could i get a deltec mce 300 skimmer?

In theory you can run a tank the eco system without a skimmer full stop, but you always have to stock on the side of caution. if it was me, id get the usual sized skimmer and run the refugium. Then you should have a very nice place for your fishies to live

with the ecosystem sump the claims are skimmerless but this is not something I would recomend for 500L I would recomend a Miracle Mud Refeguim with a Bubble Magus NAC7 but do lots of reaserch if this is something you wish to try.

those bubble magus skimmers how do they work? so do you pipes in the intake and out take? only because they look very good and quite cheap (cheaper than deltec ones)

they are pretty good mate. very popular right now, the aquabee pumped ones are a bit better.

ok thanks but how do you fit them in (install them) do you need to have a sump? i am going to have a sump

Yip they sit in the sump

they do an external one too i think, but far easier to sit one in the sump

the top one. my tank will be more 430L but plus the sump about 500L. its going to be 4 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot. dont think i can afford a 5 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot or have the space in my room well unless we do are house upgrade as we call it
