I finished my Ich treatment a couple of days ago. While treating, I had the temperature to 84 F. Now that I'm done with the treatment, I'm slowly lowering the temp down to 80 F. My question is, My fish seem to be happier at 82 F, is this ok?

I have to Blue Paradise Gourmei's and 2 Common Pleco's.

Later when my tank actually cycles, I want to add more fish since the tank looks really empty.

My ammonia is at .25 Nitrate and Nitrite are at 0 Ph is at 7.8, and Alkalinity is at 120.

I have two airstones in there as well.

So I was wondering if 82 F is fine for now with just those fish, but I was also wondering if it would be fine later when I add more.

Thanks in advance :)

Most fish can adapt to a range of temps. If they seem to be fine, I don't see a problems with leaving them it up but don't confuse "happy" with "stressed". And I'm not sure of exactly what the difference is myself. Plecos definitely prefer cooler temps as they can actually make it in an unheated tank. As for adding more fish, you should wait until you have 0 ammonia and nitrite. Most medications kill off the bacteria colony so your tank will probably cycle again (you already have ammonia showing).

I wasn't too clear, sorry. My tank was never cycled for a first time, so I don't want to add fish until it does cycle. I already lost more than enough fish :-( The fish that I have in there now are the ones that survived when I got everything all wrong. How would I tell the difference betweem happy and streesed? The Gourmei's aren't hiding all day anymore, and my pleco's are swimming around a little more, that's why I thought they were happy.

If 82 F is too high, what temp would you recommend?

Thanks again

I would recommend 78-76 F , your fish will be more active right now as the higher temp raises their metabolisms but this does not mean they are comfortable in the temp, i would suggest lowering it as the common plecs in particular will appreiciate it- but remember to lower it slowly, like a degree or 2 a day so the fish can adjust to it well.
Common plecs grow very big, so you will have to tell us how many gallons your tank holds and how big your common plecs are currently.
Doing water changes with dechlorinator will lower ammonia and nitrites and i'd suggest you do a 30% one now as your ammonia levels are not safe. Only start to stock the tank 2weeks after the whitespot has disapeared(as it will not be completely gone despite no visable white spots) and your cycle is complete.

I have a 55g. Is it possible to have two plecs in there, petsmart won't take them back. I'm still trying to cycle the tank, so I won't add anymore fish until it is cycled.
