Hi,

Well I was in the LFS today and one of their tanks they have clown knifefish, and swim amonst them was another knifefish, silver in colour, but unlike the others that had 3-5 eye spots this one has about 10 Black stripes down its flanks. It looks very similar to a royal knife but I'm not too sure.

Here's a BADLY taken pic

I thought it may be a baby clownknife, but all the other fish were the same size as this one, but they had eye spots instead of stripes.
and at £6 is was a steal :D

it is a baby clown knife fish, when babie most have stripe but when they mature they will turn into round markings. It was a steel for £6 quid. word of warning how big is your tank they tend to grow hudge

it currently in a 32gallon which is no where near big enough :)

I'm ordering a 4x2x2' tank in january :D :good:

My husband bought one of those from a LFS about a month ago. He thought it was just the coolest looking fish, with the stripes instead of the spots like our other clown had. Sadly, it came home with a disease (later found out that the fish in that particular tank at the LFS all died within a week) and we lost it after a couple days.

And, thanks beesnees, for the link. Seeing the pics of all the pretty clowns brought tears to my eyes. I never thought I'd mourn the loss of a fish.

2 metre by 1metre by 1metre. Wow that is a huge tank!!! How many gallons is that.
Nice Fish BTW

went to my lfs who custom builds them and asked for somthing around 200 gallons and he came back wit that, t sure if it is exacily 200 but around about that thought it was a steel at £250. luckily i knew a joiner who build me a cabinate 4 next 2 nothing :hyper:

have you seen the recommended tank size in the index for clown knives?
when its fully grown it will take up a 4x2x2 on its own imo :good:

yeah I know it will need a bigger tank in the future, but for the new few years it should be fine.

i am thinking about rehoming it since it has become aggresive towards my shovelnose again :(
