I decided a while ago that my tank would house a group of female bettas. Well one She-Devil, has been living in my tank awaiting a new female (aptly named as she terrorised two males in an unsuccessful breeding attempt (one is still recovering), and another female who I had to remove until I could get another two to spread the aggression. (I have been reading and observing you guys' comments on such alot).

So today I got myself a snakeskin half moon and another metalic emerald female for the community, and put all four into the tank. The big snakeskin and Emerald are having a nipping competition, plus they are having a go at the original female. The tiny juvi Emerald is being ignored (thanks be to small mercies). :D

Anyway, what's my chances they will actually settle down after working out their pecking order, or will they forever harass and nip each other?

They are much too pretty to let hurt each other too much, but I realise they do have to sort out pecking order somehow. What do you all think?

Cheers, and thanks in advance, Xanthia.

BTW, unfortunately the beautiful crown male passed away even though I did all I could for him (put him under a heat lamp). I guess he was just sick when I brought him. :rip:

They sort of work themselves out within a couple of days, but my evil girl Roxy still chases anything that comes within a mile of her and they've been in there a few months now. I found that adding more girls helped out recently, she gets exhausted from chasing everything in the tank and has to rest.

So, not sure if peace really does get established, depends on the dominant females I guess :dunno:

:rip: little crown guy
