A Wild Caught Maroon Clown.
Absolutely beautiful
Awesome that it went to a breeder, wonder if they will have any success replicating the pattern.

More Information here: http://reefbuilders.com/2010/03/30/lightning-maroon-clownfish-from-blue-zoo-aquatics-will-be-entrusted-to-an-accomplished-fishbreeder/

It's not a forum link so it's allowed, right?

There was a another caught about 2 years ago, I couldn't find what happened to him. Only two ever found.. That's amazing.

Thanks for sharing Nemo, what an amazing looking fish and an interesting story.

Seffie x

ps and yes the link is allowed :good:

Hey, Guys. My name is Ret Talbot, and I was in Papua New Guinea writing a story about the SEASMART Program when this fish was collected. I have been closely following the fish's every move since it reached Los Angeles, where it was entrusted to the very able hands of Dave Palmer at Pacific Aqua Farms (PAF). As mentioned above, Blue Zoo Aquatics (which handled the retail sale of the fish) ensured that the fish went to a reputable independent breeder instead of simply going to the highest bidder (bids exceeded $5000, mind you!). I am pleased to report that I have been in touch with the breeder, and the lightning maroon clownfish is now safely at its final destination. The name of the breeder should become public later today, and he has committed to a blog tracking his experiences with this fish. I'll try to remember to come back here and post that information when it becomes available. :)

Some of you may also be interested to note that the SEASMART-trained fisher who collected the fish was compensated well, as a cornerstone of the SEASMART Program is direct economic development for the villages where SEASMART-trained fishers live and work. Pretty cool, eh? A sustainable and equitable model for the marine aquarium world...now that's something to get excited about!

Blue Zoo Aquatics announced last night that the breeder is Matthew Pedersen. You can follow Matt's progress at:

Is this for real or is it just a photo shop job
I have seen this on another forum and every one recon it is an air brush job

The first PNG lightning maroon clownfish (2008) was real, as was the second (the one pictured at the top of this thread). The third (the one posted at ReefBuilders yesterday) was an April Fools gag (and a good Photoshop job!). :)

Here is the SEASMART article about the fish:

Here is one more picture I snapped in PNG for your disbelievers:

I think if they managed to breed loads of them it would be a shame. It would take away from the greatness.

I don't think that's possible. They are too gorgeous.
I've spoken to matthew pedersen on occasion. That fish is in good hands :good:
