So, I gave Sori his water change, moved him from salty to fresh, gave him about an hour and a half to transfer over. He's in water that's been sitting for at least a week. I added Jungle Start Right to the water. Generally, an hour to two hours is my standard 'transition time', where I'd take his water add, pour, replace, etc. He's usually extremely active, all the time, water change or no. I guess what I mean is, he just doesn't get clampy and weird after a water change and transition. He's a trooper. Before the water change, he was really really active, jumping at my fingers, flaring at me (a new development), and in general, extremely energetic. Now, he's clamped and at the bottom of the tank. I added a sprig of plant, whereas before, he was plantless. I think he's terrified of being 'without cover'. That seems to have perked him up immensely, but now what I'm curious about, is this white stuff in his water.
The white stuff is in his fresh water, the same white stuff that was in his old tank. He was in a totally cleaned out, 1.25G bowl, with totally fresh, treated water. I cleaned it throughally before, there's no way that this white junk could get into the water any other way than Sori himself.
I'm beginning to wonder if the white stuff is a symptom of illness? Some betta illness that I haven't heard of in my months of googling? Or maybe it's some basic betta concept I've not read about yet....
Could it possibly be his slime coat, cast off, or something? It looks rather...jelly like, for lack of a better word. Sometimes it looks thread like, but it doesn't seem to bear a resembelence to thread worms.
Even his waste never um, had color. Maybe he has some kind of internal parasite? Maybe it's a product of a months long constipated betta? Oo
Sometimes, it seems like these little.... clear, jelly like things fly out of his gills and body when he swims. I can't figure how else to explain it, and since it's so small, I don't think a picture is feasible. But it does look like the stuff that was in his old tank, it's just not in a mass yet.
Ask me questions. Maybe that'll get a clearer post out of me.
