Getting a bigger tank soon, so remember that now.

A couple days ago, I noticed my comet (Oreo) nipping on my Shubunkin (Colossus) fins. It has only happened that once, and I don't see any damage at all.

it could have stucked in its tail by accident which will usually be spat straight back out and no damage caused or it could be that the faster fish is being a bit of a bully towards a slower fish, the faster fish will take a mouthfull of tail and rag it around a bit causing damage keep a close eye on them
