Does anyone have a list of the most hardy fish?

And I've heard conflicting stories on whether Mollies are good for beginners. Can someone clear this up?

Zebra danios are one of the hardiest and best begginers fish along with guppies and some species of corydoras (peppered and bronze variations),im not sure on the mollies but you would be better asking in the livebearers section about them.

Hi Green Swordtail welcome to the forum while the two that cat fish crazy mention is real good for tank cycling I found something that is a little better and that is comet gold fish they had a friend of mines tank cycled in three weeks we put ten of them in a ten gallon tank and we changed out 10 percent of the water every other day in three weeks time all the readings were o and ph reading was 7.0 we took the gold fish back to the fs with no harm to the comets either. And mollies are a hardy fish

i would try white cloud mountain minows i've had some for 5 years and no problems with them at all. Don't try guppies because they've all been over bread and they have a very poor immune system cuz of it. i would also try swordtails and platies very hardy fish but they do breed quiet alot which is a pain. hope this helps..

I have to agree about the zebra danios. I started out with 6 of em, and still have 6 of em even after all the mistakes etc I have made. Just wish they were slower so I can see them :)

I had guppies when I was a kid and I didn't know anything special about proper fish care. I think they're way up there on the hardy list. And they keep making plenty of replacements for themselves! :p

Hardy fish list;

Zebra, Pearl, Giant Danios
Golden, Cherry and Rosy Barbs
Black Widow, Red Eye, Buenos Aires Tetras
Bronze, Peppered, Albino Corydoras
Bristlenose cats
White Cloud Mountain Minnows

Platys, Swordtails, Guppies and Mollies tend to do better in tanks that have 'settled in' a little. Mollies tend to appreciate hard/slightly Brackish water. Black and Silver Mollies are very susceptable to Whitespot if stressed. Sailfin Mollies prefer Brackish conditions over freshwater, this mirrors their natural habitat. :)
