CAn you name a light that doesnt produce alot of heat as i want one for my axolotl tank,as it produces alot of heat and im having trouble keeping the temp of the tank itself down at the minute!
The light would be for a juwel rekord 60,so a 15 watt lamp. MAny thanks :D

I've always found that florescents work well, because the choke unit is away from the tank, and that's what produces the heat. However, it depends on what you have in the tank as to the type of lighting you need. If you have a planted tank, you need a stronger light, if not planted, the above will do fine. You can also select a tube for the desire effect you require, and there are hundreds of different ones out there!

I got 2 words for ya
cold cathode :good:

LED is the best you will find (and will rape your wallet too).

72W of LED can give the same power out as 250W Metal Halide, but with almost zero heat output.

obviously overkill here...

Do aqua-glo's produce alot of heat...theyre flourescent and they promote plant growth and fish colours!

what about those coldwater ones you can get...i think ones called beauty light?
