i was told ottos but i have them in my other tank and they didnt really help how many whould u recomend 4 a 10g and a 30g tank?

I would say corydoras, however, I am sure you are looking for something a little more elaborate that that.

Also, your Cockatoo Cichlid is beautiful.

 Dwarf, you did not just say that!

*clamps hands over eyes and hums loudly*

I didn't see that, I didn't read that..... :-(

I don't know about ottos, they just seem so very little to do a massive algae cleaning job... but a lot of people have found them usefull, so I don't know... I'm buying one tomorrow for my ten gallon, and I'll see what happens....

Bristlenose ugly... humph...

bristlenose are not ugly if you dont like the bristles get a female cause they dont have them its just the males

iv got lotz a fry

sry i was thinking of the rong fish it looks like brissle nose but it isnt i have 1 in my grandmas pond ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

If bristlenoses aren't to your liking, then you should also check out rubberlip (rubbernose, bulldog, etc) plecs. They stay around 5'', and they're not too bad at cleaning up algae. They're nowhere near as good as bristlenoses, or even otos, though.

BTW GTP2002, corydoras cats won't clean any algae. They'd look nice in the tank, though. :D

Hi dwarf-puffers :)

Otos eat a surprising amount of algae. In fact, I can hardly believe how fast a team of 8 of them cleaned up the accumulation in my 55 gallon tank.

They pooped it out all over my lovely sand bottom too! :X

corys are not algae eaters! Bristlenose are the best for the job. they cleaned my 55 in a week and keep it clean. otos you need a bunch and you have to worry bout them gettin eatten. I lost a beautiful sun cat becuase it was foolish to eat an oto. :rip: :byebye:

i have a rubber lipped plec. he's about three inches. he seams to be more active than my otto when it comes to cleaning algae. you could also go with amono shrimp. they do a good job of cleaning algea off rocks plants gravel ornaments but dont do much for the glass. also you could try a snail. apple snails are good as they need two to breed unlike other snails that just pop up. they get big though and make a fair amount of waste.

bristlenose cats cleaned my 25 gal over night and it was disgustinglyover grown with algae, twig catfish are also good algae eaters and flying foxes
