my questions involve my plants first what exatly is this plant, i know its a form of crypt, and also what is going on with its leaves, the tank is about a week old and this started happening about 3 days ago(see pic below)

my next question concerns my java fern, there are these what look like buds forming on the underside of some of the leaves, they are green with red hairs comming off (see pic below) what are they??

and idk if this matters, i had a large out break of illness (not sure which one) that killed off 7 of my 8 barbs on the tank, im not sure if fish illness can affect plants, but the tank has been treated and gotten under control, just thought i would throw that in there in case it mattered

i think the java fern can also procreate by growing new plants from the leaves, so basicalyy its multiplying trying to survive

The Cryptocoryne looks like the the "wentdii". Crypts can suffer when 1st put into a new tank they should recover in a few weeks so just trim off any dead leaves and give them a chance, should be fine :good:
The Java Fern is reproducing they do this by producing new plants off the leaves of the mother, eventually they will drop off and you can tie them to the wood, rock or whatever.
Hope this helps I think your plants will be fine B-)

really appreciate the help, that's exactly what I wanted to know

The crypt is going through what is known as crypt melt, this is normal when first introdued to a new enviroment, due to water conditions being different and the fact the don't like being moved much at all the leaves die off and make way for new ones, like someone stated already just remove the dead leaves this will help promote new growth quicker and the growth from a crypt is slow

The java fern is reproducing, mine does this right before it dies in my tank but some reason I have bad luck with java fern. I just put a new one in my tank seems to have lasted so far so good and it to is starting to do the same as yours is, this is how it reproduces new plants, as the leaf dies or you gain more of these on the leaf, I have found taking them off carefully when they are big, Like a nice big bud and letting them float and then tieing them to driftwood or rocks or something they grow new rezhimes and leafs so a new plant.
