Ok, I was considering marine for some other time, and I saw this tank for sale - but I'm not sure how many US gallons it is. Ok, the Front is 36 inches, it is 15 inches wide and 16 inches tall. How many gallons is it in US AND UK. Thanks. And once you have found this out, how many inches of fish I can put in there? And Do invertibrates count?

So 3 questions (please answer!)

1. How big is the tank in US AND UK gallons? (measurements above)
2. How many inches of marine fish can go in there?
3. How many inches of invertibrates can go in there?

Thank you - I really need this info fast, and accurately. :D :D

Eelzor,

1. 37 gal (US), 31 gal (UK) or 140 litres

2. According to PFK magazine:
Reef aquarium 7"/18cm of fish
Fish only 14"/36cm of fish

3. I would say that inverts do have an effect on the bio-load but how you would factor them into the 'inches of fish' I do not know. Sorry.

HTH, Eddie

Thanks Eddie, but I'm not exactly sure on one thing. What is the difference between "reef" and "fish only" saltwater setup?

reef is with corals shrimps hermits worms etc etc

fish only is, well, fish only. ;)

(oh, and a bit of live rock maybe)

Take 5 minutes and read the pinned articles at the top of this forum. Are you getting hardware only or will it have livestock in it too? IF the latter it is only a good deal if, after everything has died, you are still saving money on the hardware alone. At least, that was the standard I used when buying my established tank.

But read those pinned articles of GL's, then read a lot lot more if the tank you are getting is already established.

37G may seem big, but 55 or 75 are a lot mo

Yes, I have gone through GR pinned saltwater post 3 times! The tank is a great deal, extremely cheap, well in australia anyway, but i have a few q's

Ok, well how would this fair in that 37 Gallon?

1 Tomato Clownfish
1 Royal Gramma Basslet
1 Cleaner Shrimp
1 Sea Biscuit Starfish
1 Sea Anenome
1 Derasa Clam

Q's!

1. How much live rock?
2. What filtration?
3. Can I add one more small fish?

Thanks for the quick replies :D

The clown and the baslett would pretty much max you out IMO. Secially if the clown gats a relationship going with a host. I have had my clowns attack my hand before, so they can get territorial. 37 gallons isn't a lot of territory, but it is a good start.

I am at this very moment going to pin an article with some ramblin thoughts on stocking for beginners. Please read it and give us some input. :D

:D Thanks Great Lakes! I'll read the post immediatly. And ask my question in full to help others :D
