A Bottomless Tank?

It's possible. Here is how you find out. Take a cup adn stick it in your fish tank. Fill it up most of the way. Then take most of the cup out of the water. Make sure that the opening of the cup is in the water. And you will have water in the cup, instead of the water comming out, the air create's a vacum, and keeps the water there.

Surely they can't have the air being pumped in to there though, or it'll displace the water?

Yeah - you know I forgot about that. I guess I could see that cat in there at least once.... I wish they were available from an international tank manufacturer... It seems these come from a speciality shop or something... Ahhh..... project for another day. Oh and the cup in the water thing --- you were right, that does work... I should have failed 7th grade science. Also, thanks for the links....
