I have aquired 3 Oscars today, to go in what was going to be a malawai tank, but i changed my mind last minute :p

Its a 23.4 gallon tank, now i know this is too small and they will outgrow it in a matter of months. However, when this time comes i will take 2 of them to the LFS and get a 90gallon tank.

I was shocked to see that they cost 400 pounds and above!!

Is there anyway of getting them cheaper?

thats like 600-700 dollars canadian and that ridiculous at the petsmart here thay have a 150g with stand and canopy for 700 dollars

I don't see ones that big in my lfs, the biggest they have is 37UK -_-

I got mine on eBay, although it is a fair bit smaller than what you are after. Do you want 90 UK or US gallons?

I know that Trimar sell tanks but they don't have a courier for ones bigger than 48" long.

Well, basically i want a tank that will happily hold a large oscar...

I was told 90us gallons was a good size, but i just looked about and someone else claims 200 litres?

200 litres is only about 50 US gallons. I don't think that'd be a good idea.

My tank is about 84US gallons and is 5'x2'x2' but I am not sure on how big oscars get.

Hmmm, have you looked at eBay? I know you got a tank there recently.

Where is Reading/Berks close to? I had a look on eBay for you but couldn't really limit the search by loacation as there's only a few to choose from.

Do you drive? When I got mine, the seller agreed to hire a van for me (for £20) and brought it and then set it up for me!

Oscars can reach up to 16" so they need a tank of at least 90 gallons for one fish and preferably more.

macky :p
wont the silicone burst out with the weight of the water?

I would not trust myself with such a huge amount of water invloved!

You can get a 6x2x2 (180 us g) for around £300 for a basic glass box, then you need to add flitration, heaters, hood and lights which will cost you at least another £200 maybe more, also bear in mind that this will only be large enough for 2 oscars. Once you get into the realms of large tanks and fish you need a big budget and if you cant think in terms of hundreds of pounds they probably arent for you.
