Bought one from a bargain store for £10, put water in and it flexs quite a lot, is this safe or should i abandon ship? when the lids on it doesn't flex so bad but it does when its off

I only had mine half filled, when I used them, for that exact reason.. it does depend on how thick the plastic is. You should go with whatever you consider to be safe.

The plastic isn't thin at all, i highly doubt it would split but i think i'll leave it outisde overnight incase it does, if its all good i'll get the filter running tomorrow for the gourami

Breeding Chocolate Gourami, its 80 litres so big enough for a trio, need to start buying a lot of livefoods to condition the fish

ahh i thought it was just as a temporary measure was going to suggest a plastic bin (i used one when my tank decided to leak but there black so wouldnt be very good too look at good luck with the breeding

I did consider it actually, more stable and more secure for the fish if i bought a small arcadia clip on light, Hmm!
