I am thinking about getting another heater for one of my 2.5 gallon tanks. Right now, I live on the fourth floor of the dormitories and get a fair amount of sunshine so my room stays warm and the coldest the water gets is about 72 degrees. This seems ok, but soon it will start raining and get colder so a heater might be necessary.

I am wondering about this 7.5w mini heater. I know it can't be set so does anyone else have any good or bad experiences with it? Should I get it or would a 25W heater be ok in a 2.5 gallon?

I don't think it would be good because you can't control the temp setting on it. I believe you should get a 25w heater with a thermostat on it so you can set it the temp you want it to be on. Good luck finding a heater and could we see some pics of the tanks? :hey:

I bought one the other day, I put it in my 4 gallon tank which was close to 68 degrees / after about a day to a day 1/2 it got the temp up to around 72-73 degrees, so yes I'd say they work pretty good for a cheap heater. I'm taking mine back to walmart tomorrow cause I got two 25 watt PROQUATICS HYDROMATIC Aquarium heaters 1 in my 4 gallon and 1 in my 5 gallon tanks, my 5 gallon tank was about 68 degrees now after 24 hours it is over 75 degrees, they work perfect//great heaters for 12.99. I will probably buy some more of the 7.5 junior heaters later on for some of my other smaller tanks, but for now I'm going to be set---I set up my 10 gallon aquarium with homemade dividers for 3 of my males, I'll be using a 50 watt heater for this tank.
