What can I put in my new 6ft to make it look less empty? I moved all the fish's wood/rocks etc with them from their old tanks, but it looks like a teenagers first appartment  there is nothing much in there and what's in there looks tiny compared to the space they have. Any suggestions? I have big wood but the bloomin stuff wont stay sunk so that's out....

Some nice fish would make it look less empty

If you're not adding fish, then I guess you could play around with rocks and wood.

Does the tank have a background? Tanks without a background look bigger IMO.

Why don't you screw your wood to some pieces of slate, use two or three pieces if it wont stay put.
Just clear the gravel to one side drop it in and cover the slate.

Failing that you can buy rock from garden centers prity cheap, just do the vinegar test on it, if it fizzes its not suitable, unless your keeping African chiclids.

I said loads worse then that, after all the time and care I put into it, only to find the darn stuff won't stay sunk.

i think everyone's had the same problem with their driftwood. What i did was soaked it for 2 month in my tank while it was cycling. I just put the wood in, filled the tank, and kept the lid on securely. eventually it got water logged and sank.

use some rocks to hold the wood down for a few weekd then it will stay down on its own after some time

No worries now, I did, infact, screw it to some big stone slabs....it's sunk now :)

Tank looks better, still a bit sparse but it'll be ok for a while. Don't think the plants and the plecs are good for each other, I know Malcolm for one can not bear anything looking remotely like it is growing, he gets his fin underneath it and hikes it straight out. My bamboo is planted in a 1/2 pint glass so he can't do it.
