Looking for the cheapest way to upgrade the lighting in my 60 Litre planted tank. Been searching around and am more than a bit confused by all the options!

The tank was cheap and came with a single 15W T8 and a lid to hold it. (This one, to be exact http://www.petsathome.com/shop/marina-style-60-tropical-aquarium-set-(available-in-store-only)-78659). The lightings OK but trying to build up a good planted tank and would really like to upgrade it a little. Is there a cheapish way to do this, preferably without having to replace the whole lid? Could I maybe fit another controller and bulb under it?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Ps3Steveo makes LED lights according to your requirements, why not PM him?  You may however find these are a bit high-tech for what you are looking for?

Might be a good option, any idea of how much that might cost? LED lights sound good but I'm afraid I don't know very much about them!

Firstly, Google them to find out more, you will generally find they are brighter and do not need replacing as much as tubes, if ever.
Send a PM (Private Message) to Ps3Steveo and ask him as they are all different depending what is required.  Not had any (yet) myself off him, but others on the forum have.

Having read a bit I think this is probably a bit too high tech/expensive... is there a simpler way to get just a little more light?

It's probably too late but why do you need more light?
If you aren't injecting CO2 15W for a 60L tank is more than enough for all plants that can grow without CO2 injection and even with CO2 injection. Light is an overrated factor for plant growth.
