I am planning on upgrading to a 55 gallon tank and merging my fish from my other tanks. We live in a house over 100 years old and where I want to put the tank is in front of a small fireplace that we don't use. It has a stone hearth, brick actually and is quite level. I am assuming this hearth is probably stone all the way to the ground underneath as in this section of the house it has a crawl space Also, my support beams are running opposite the direction the tank will be sitting. I have never had a tank this big and just wanted to make sure I am not missing anything. Does anyone see any problems with this placement? There is a spinnett piano in this location right now and I am guessing it weighs as much or more than the tank will. Oh, and I plan to attach styrofoam in front of the fireplace opening to eliminate any possible drafts. Thanks for any input? :D

should be perfectly fine. My mother has a 100 gallon tank in what sounds like almost the same scenario you want to put yours and her house is 210 years old!

Thanks everybody. Nothing like some reassurance from knowledgeable people. Sounds like full steam ahead with my plans! :D
