I am thinking about getting a 55 US gallon tank, and although I don't think I will, or if I do, it will be awhile, I am already considering stocking plans. :shifty:

My favorite fish are danios, by far. I have only ever had zebra, pearl, and leopard danios, but I think it would be neat to have a tank stocked only with danios, but multiple different variateies. I might have one BN Pleco to help clean house, or perhaps some shrimp, but I have always wanted a danio tank.

I do have some concerns. I realize that danios mostly perfer to be in the top part of the tank, so if I stocked different kinds of danios, would they all stay at the top of the tank? The danios (zebra) in my 26 gallon seem to be in the middle layer as much as the top, but I keep reading that danios are top layer fish, and I worry that by stocking all top layer fish, it would be crowded?

As far as what exact kinds of danios, I am not sure, but I am browsing through The-Wolf's danio site right now, and am having trouble choosing which kinds because I like them all! I know I will have zebra danios, and probably giant danios, but outside of that, it kinda depends on what other kinds I can find.

they probarbly would go all over the tank if their were no bottom dwellers

yup given the lack of other fish the danios will be all over the place.
my 42G is mostly danios (giants, moustached, redfin giants, feegradei etc)
and they are all over the place. :good:

I have 3 kinds of danios and a bunch of corys. My danios will go in the caves with the corys a lot of the time. I have even seen them run the cory out and take the cave over for a little while. They are everywhere in the tank even with the bottom dwellers. :good:
