I have a 50W heater in a 2.5 (UK) Gallon tank, the temperature is currently at 24.o C, but considering the heater is to powerful for the tank, could anyone recommend a temperature he will be comfortable in and be active in most.
Thanks in advance,
Neal

That didn't answer my question, and if your trying to hint me to get another heater, i'm not. He seems fine with it now, i'm just wondering if he'd prefer it at a higher/lower temp.

  (gets the cat claw hand out)

Agree/Disagree - aren't you suppose to have 5watt per 1gal of water??

So if you have a 2.5 and you're putting a 50w heater in there - isn't that too much power?? (insert grunt fr Tim Allen here)

"The optimal betta temperature is 74-82F, the absolute minimum being 68. So when you're picking out a tank for your new betta you need to consider the temperature of your house. If he won't be warm enough, you'll need to buy a small heater. 25w works perfect for a small tank, 2.5 to 5 gallons. A heater in a tank any smaller than that can be risky. If you'll require a heater, you must buy a bigger tank." - Betta Basics & Care Wuvmybetta

Sorry Neal i wont bother in future and there is no need to be stroppy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I told you what i was using and what temperatures i had using them and personaly i couldnt care less what heater you use

my heaters are all too large for my tanks..and I havent cooked any yet... :-(

I wasn't being stroppy and graham i'm sorry if I gave you the wrong impression mate, I didn't mean it like that (I thought of it before but couldn't put it any other way). Anyway, he has lived with that heater set at 24oC for a while so I think he'l be alright. :)
Sorry Graham and thanks to everyone for your replys.

For a few months I had a 100w heater in a 3 gallon tank with no ill effects. I just set the temp to 79 as usual and everything went fine.

Its best to fit the heater to the water volume as they could overheat and go haywire.

Ok, thanks for all the information, if I see any bad signs i'll remove the heater straight away and gradually get him used to cool water, then buy him a new heater when I can.
