5 gallon tank

Could someone recommend what type of filter to put in a 5 gallon tank? And can you use a heater in that size of a tank?

I have feeder guppies and I would like to separate the boys and was thinking of putting them in a 5 gallon. Just boys together would be okay, wouldn't they?

Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated. ~thanks~

A 50 watt submersible thermostat-heater would be ideal for a 5 gal. Since it's such a small tank and a dodgy thermostat could be dangerous, get a new one. Alternatively, I've seen heated pads that go underneath small tanks or bowls - I believe they've been developed for fry tanks.
