I want to put a bottom dweller in my 5.5 gallon platy fry tank to help clean it. Once the fry are old enough to tell gender, I will put males in my livebearer tank and sell females to my LFS. I might keep the mom in there. I'm kind of attached to her. Once the fry are out I want to put in 3 ADF's. I need a bottom dweller that will be okay in a 5.5 gallon tank with platy fry and ADF's. Ottos need 3 or more. That will way overstock my tank. could I have a cory of some sort? Which kind?

Everything I have read on ADF's says they need 1.5 gallons each. By that standard, 3 would need 4.5 gallons. My 5.5 gallon tank should be fine.

5 gallon will be fine for 3 but I thought they were bottom dwellers?

Bottom dwellers don't clean the tank, they eat leftover food they find and poop it out, adding to the waste already there, and they need feeding in their own right as well - more waste.

Most bottom dwellers, like corys, like to live in groups and your tank simply is not large enough to accommodate 6 more fish.

You are the best way to keep the bottom of the tank clean.
