ok, i was just thinking, could i turn my 5 gallon into a full saltwater tank, lik if i had an anemony and one clown fish, could that work, and how much maintanence would i have to put in for this to become? i ask because i never hear of people trying such a small saltwater setup. thnx.

NOT a good idea. I have seen it done, but you need an INCREDIBLE amount of filtration to keep it stable. The absolute minimum for a beginning marine aquarist shoud be 40 gallons.

I don't mean to be discouraging though, by all means get into the marine side of the hobby. It's just as rewarding!

One of my friends did a small live rock with a clown fish in a 6 gallon....you just have to test stuff and add supplements more often, at least it worked for him.

I don't know about the anemone though, I hear those are harder to keep.

Maybe the people here could give you some advice on how to maintain something like that.

Here is another forum you might want to ask about it in:
reefcentral.com
They have some experts around there.

Good Luck!
