5 Gal Light

im having trouble finding a light that will fit in a 5 gal fish tank lid what should i do and what is recomended

Depends a whole lot on what you want it to do.
 
For LED there are many clip on lights, such as the smaller TMC type lights (such as their microlight) or several from ebay.
 
Otherwise there are things like the arc pods that do well with power compacts.
