Tank set up about 3 weeks ago.

Tank is 2 feet.

2 Neon Tetra's have died along with 3 out of 4 male Guppys.

I seen the third Guppy die yesterday, for hours the fish was swimming to the top of the water, upwards then like sinking back down as if it was dead, till the last min, kept doing that for ages. It died in thay way too.

The Characins are gunna be the only ones left by tomorrow.

OK don't panic.

Firstly, the tank is still quite new so chances are you are having a couple of 'teething' problems with the water quality. Do you have test kits? If so, could you post the results on here??

Secondly, don't be put off by what you have lost. Guppies are a weak fish due to huge inbreeding and generations of cross-breeding for colour. This has made them quite weak and very prone to diseases. The neons really need a more mature tank than that of a few weeks old. I would imagine this has added to the reason why you have lost a few of these. Neons don't do well in immature tank water... again, due to the massive demand for them they are breed heavily and quickly and this results in poor health.

Stick with it, do some water tests (mainly Ammonia & Nitrite) and get the results on here.

Cheers, I feel like giving up as I have spent a lot of money on getting the tank set up with everything to go in it.

I aint done any water testing, wasn't really aware that you had too, how much are the test kits? what do I look for when testing the water?

As you can tell, i'm new to all of this.

As per your previous post, it's because you didn't cycle the tank.

Best you can do now is to do a large water change using de-chlorinated water at the same temperature as your tank water.

If your last 2 die, you should take the opportunity to cycle the tank properly.
