hi guys... just a quick question for you :)

how thick should the glass be on a 4ft tank? is 5mm ok?

thanx heaps
kel

If you are making a tank, you should ask in the DIY forum. 5mm sounds a bit thin to me, I have seen posts that say you need to have 12mm thick if its 2" deep as the pressure will be too much. If its a tank you are buying, what make is it? if its a known brand then it should be ok.

My four foot by 18" deep is 6mm glass and made by fluval. If the one you are buying is cheap then go for it, fill it with water and make sure there are no leaks. I only mentioned the DIY forum as I have seen them mention 10MM glass for standard size and 12mm for deep. Maybe our tanks are strengthened tanks? dunno.
