Recently my boyfriend and I purchased a 46 Bow tank for our salt-water endeavor. We bought glass canopies since we prefer this look, yet the canopies don't fit on the tank with the skimmer & filter on the back. Has anyone else run into this problem, fitting glass canopies with protein skimmers? We have a Coralife skimmer.

Does anyone have a suggestion on an alternative tank topper? We'd prefer not to go with wood, since our stand isn't wood.

whats the stand made of then id try and match that

theres a pinned topic at the top of this forum about a diy hood maybe look into that :good:

You could replace the cover with acrylic and cut it to your liking.... Or consider drilling the tank and operating the skimmer in-sump

I have a 72 gallon with the glass tops. The filtration I'm using barely fits, and sprays a bit of water on the glass tops. This leads to a bit of algae buildup on the outside of the glass.

I plan on contacting All-Glass, the manufacturer of the top, to make sure it isn't tempered glass before I cut about an inch off of it. If it's tempered I'll either live with the algae, or have some smaller pieces of glass cut.
