Hello, I have a brand new (month old) FishTanks and has been running since the day I bought it. I want the tank too be a centerpiece fishtank in my living room and would really enjoy these fish 2 discus,8 Corydoras, 1 apistogramma cacatuoides, and 6 cardinal tetras. I have Amano soil new Amazonia, a root looking peice of driftwood with the following plants anubias bartai, riccia flutans, many varieties of ludwigia, Cryptocoryne species, echinodoris species, African fern, windolov, thin, java fern and a tiny peice of moneywort. This is my ninth fish tank and has a c4 fluval filter. I believe this will work as all of these fish are compatible together I am just wondering since I have never owned discus before.
Cheers

discus are large shoaling fish which do best in tanks at least 55 gallons, in groups of at least 6, or a breeding pair. the only ones that are compatible with discus in your stocking list are cardinal tetras and 1 species of corydoras known as sterbai cories, due to the discus's high water temperature requirements. I would not recommend them for a tank your size, 4'x12"x18" should be minimum, preferably more.

discus are also rather sensitive, fragile fish which need good filtration, IMO the fluval c4 would not be enough for them, even if the tank was large enough.
