I would like to start a pleco tank in my new 40USgal tank. Would a clown pleco and a rubbernose pleco work? And could I fit anymore in it?

Those 2 would be fine together, neither being aggresive and don't grow too big ( both get to around 4" )

Plecs are naturally territorial and will need their own space, don't be surprised to see a bit of squabbling at first but they will get on in time.

As for adding other Plecs I think it can be done in a 40g. I'd keep with the smaller ones, under 6" or so, just do your research and you should be fine. Plenty of rocks and caves and a piece of wood or 2 along with good filtration should keep them happy.

Planetcatfish.com has a list of all Plecs known and tells of their needs.

I've just got an L260 Queen Arabesque and think it's a great looking fish, a great fish that I'm sure you'd like.

HTH.

Alright thanks for the info

I think Rubbernose/Bulldog plecs (Chaetostoma species) need cooler water with a higher current than Clown Plecs. :S

I'd disagree, both will do great in the mid 70's F, as for current most tanks have their areas of faster and slower current and I'm sure they'd find their prefered spot.
