Hi,
I have had my tank running for 3 weeks now with an Aquaclear 301 powerhead, a Rena 400 powerhead, a Rena 300 powerhead, 30kg of live rock (which came from an established tank of 2 years) + an established power filter, 1 x cleaner Shrimp, 4 x Scarlet Reef Hermit Crabs, 4 x Turbo snails, 1 x Talbot's damsel, 1 x Yellowtail Blue damsel and some small soft corals.
For lighting I have twin T8 marine tubes but have a 400w Metal Halide unit being delivered soon.
I have just tested my water and the results are:
0.0ppm Ammonia
0.0ppm NitrIte
20 ppm NitrAte
pH 8.0
I have had Ammonia and NitrItes readings during the 3 weeks so I presume that the tank has now cycled. I understand that cycled does not mean mature so I have a few questions like what the time frame is for the addition of new anenomes, corals, fish, etc. How long should I wait between adding things and above all, how do I tell if the tank is ready?
Thanks.
