i have a 40 gallon tank and am loking to keep jus marine fish, jus a couple of clowns maybe some others,

any ideas on how much filtration i would need and wat it would consist of?

also what other fish could i keep in there?

chers :D

You'll need about 40lbs of live rock, 15-20x turnover from powerheads and a good skimmer for filtration. You could keep a bunch of other fish in that tank. In my 40 gallon I've got a coral beauty.

You would probably rather go with just one clown so you can have more variety in the tank, because you want a maximum of 5 fish in there if they are all small-medium sized fish. [about 1 fish/10 gallons for medium sized fish ]A really good place to start your research on fish is liveaquaria.com. Look in the beginning marine fish section and they are known to be accurate in the things they say about hardiness, [easy, moderate, etc.]feeding, minimum tank size, etc. If I were to have a 40 gallon fish only tank with fairly hardy fish, id choose a true percula clown, royal gramma, purple firefish, yellow-tail damsel, and a yellow watchman goby. I have experience with all of these and think they are good, colorful beginning choices.
