40-Gal Breeder Setup

Hi, I just wanted to bounce a setup I'm contemplating for a 40-gal breeder I'm setting up. Any feedback is welcome!
Fish
4 small Ports or Firemouths or Festivums -- I really want to make these Chichlids the centerpiece
2 Corys (any kind, though I'd go with Skunk if I find it)
7 or so Tiger Barbs *
1 other cat (Pleco or Synodontis) **

* What do you think of mixing the B. Tetrazonas with this type of Cichlid? Should be OK, right?
** Really don't know about this... I want another compatible scavenger, advice sought

You need to have six cory or more

I wouldn't put tiger barbs with corys and they will get nipped to death, corys also need to be in groups of 6 or more.
4 Firemouths could work but if they pair and start to breed then it will be WWI
A Bristlenose plec or 2 could work.

Festivums will get to big im afraid. But firemouths would work
