4 Gallon Coldwater

You couldn't keep anything coldwater in a tank that size.
Perhaps WCMM's, but to me that would be too small.

The foot print is strange, is one of those random shape tanks - not a huge footprint basically, would hillstream loaches be happy in a 4g?

do you have any latin names for small coldwater gobies - sounds good

thanks

Hmm...I wouldn't put hillstream loaches in a tank less than 6months mature, they rely on little micro organisms which live in the water which are only in sufficient quantities in more established tanks, they also need a more or less constant supply of fresh algae and very powerful filtration (think specialist river tank set up). I'm not sure if there are any types of hillstream loaches which grow to under 3inches though, so there probably wouldn't be enough space for them either way.

I didn't think they would be possible, gonna look into coldwater gobies though

nice sig :D

Maybe a pair/trio of Rhinogobius duospilus (or wui, same thing). There's a fair few others- a lot are brackish, although they don't need much salt, it's just a pain properly identifying most of them. Alternatively, the pygmy sunfish are nice- they're increasing in popularity lately. http://www.minifische.de/ - have a look around on there, a lot are tropical but there's a few that do fine at room temp.
