Ok i know nothing about marine setups, i'm thinking of trying it out with low costs.
What do i need to know and what do i need for a 4 foot tank? :/

what would you like in the tank?

lots of corals, some corals, just fish?

what are the other dimensions of the tank?

Yes, more info on your aspirations for this tank and information about the tank as it is now is definitely needed. Without a goal there is only confusion as to how the tank should be set up.

I want to keep it cheap but not to cheap in qaulity. I want to add some live rocks in there to make it look nice and keep maybe about 6 fish. It is 4ft long x 14" deep x 20" high.

I have pm'd you

a wallet full of cash :p

na, liverock, a protein skimmer, 2-3 power heads, and sand (liverock will seed dry sand, so don't feel you have to buy live sand)

1.What brands, models do i need to look for????
2.Powerheads as in internal filters???
3.Coral and live rocks are different right?

Power heads are just for movement, or water flow. Corals and Liverock are different in many ways, but harbour the same forms of life in many respects. Brands vary, but there are many good brands to chose from. Have a read through Navarre's, GreaLakes's and even SteelHealers pinned topics and their tank diaries to get some good info!

those are powerheads. they move the water around the live rock and help out the bacteria(i dont remember what it does but the bacteria dont do well with out it) also corals like the watermovement. you want atleasts 20x water movement.....ie for a 10 gal you would want a powerhead with at least 200 gpm. i belive that you can use any filter with SW but most filter media become nitrate traps(steelhealr can help more on this) the live rock is the main filtration and also provides hiding places for the inhabitants and places of corals to grow on and a place for the bacteria to live. ull want 1-1.5 lbs per gallon of life rock
