saw that Dan-CR4 had started a build thread for his tank stand n thought id share the one that ive built with the forum, the dimensions of my stand are 36" wide by 30" tall and 18" deep. the top and bottom are made with 3x2" pine and the legs are 2x4" pine, i know that structurally it is way over built but i wanted it to be sturdy and made to last!! im pretty pleased with how its turned out especially since im an electrician and havent done any wood working since school lol!! anyway heres the pictures

the top on and shelf on one side (shelved on one side so i can put external filter in cabinet) shelves made from 9mm marine ply

the back now on and made from the same 9mm marine ply

the cladding round the top and on the sides is 75mm pine strips same as the facing u might use round a door frame (had loads of it in the garage so thought id use that, quite pleased with the effect)

finishing the front of the stand, used 95mm pine (more commonly used as skirting boards) on top and bottom

..........What we really would love to see is the wiring later on. That will be even more of a master piece I am sure.

Nice work! :good: Looks very sturdy! Have/Are you going to stain or apply a finish to the stand?

Usually, if I saw a 'Sparky' with a saw I would run a mile, but you Sir have a hidden talent! Your school woodwork teacher would be proud!

thanks for the kind comments :) yes i was going to give it a liberal waxing, i dont want a shiny finish so decided against varnish and the stand shouldnt be getting too wet anyway as im pretty careful when doing my water changes

forgot to add that i may add doors to it at a later date but as im gona be running an internal filter for the time being im happy with it being open at the front

looks really nice mate :good: , glad I inspired you to put your build up. Its good to put the builds up as it gives people like me ideas on building them and different designs, as I said in my thread, woodwork is not my favourite past time, but having something unique is the way to go, well it was for me.
