3D printing Decor

I just thought of the idea of 3d printing things to put in my tank, like maybe little scuba divers or something, but I have no idea if it is safe and google said yes but also found other websites that said no. It would be out of PLA(Polylactic acid). Does anyone know if this would be safe for my tropical tank?

I've always thought yes but don't really know. You could always seal with something aquarium-safe if you're nervous.

I bought some 3D printed replica snail shells of the species from snail in Lake Tanganyika - never got chance to set the tank up but they seem ok. Interested to see if anyone can find info on this though.
