It's some fany electronic ballast so I'm limited to 20watts and it's not upgradable.
I was thinking since it's all oak, the stand and tank, get some oak wood and build a new strip light to house two or three 20watt bulbs.
Now the strip light I'll build would probably have to be the same size and the one on there now, i'm not skilled anough to build a bow front hood out of wood.
The bulbs are the long but skinny ones, so would two or three have a problem fitting in a rectangle that's maybe 3"h x 4ish"w x 30something" l ? I'd put in a cooling fan, I've got plenty of them in different sizes.

Less than a watt per gallon is killing my plants.
