erm.. got a bit carried away buyin things bought a new tank heater air pump filter background ... is the heater too much or will it be ok and regulate its self ? Any help please ? oh yeah the tank i got was a 35l for my 2 goldfish that are in my tropical is it big enough ? :blink:
 
I think it's too big not that it matters it will regulate as you said but imagine what will happen if it sticks ON
A nice fish soup before you know it

its not really about if its accurate, if the heater goes wrong, one thing that can happens is, it sticks on, such a big heater in a small tank, as andydrew says, will make fish soup in no time.
 
That kind of is a risk you are taking... I had a 300 watt in my 55 with no problems (which doesn't mean you couldn't have problems). Likewise, if the heater doesn't turn on in the tank for a couple days (say when you're out of town) then most tropical fish could die of temperature shock or develop parasites. All hardware has a risk.

i had a 300w juwel stick on in a 180ltr and it very nearly cooked my fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :sick: so the same thing in a 70 would be fatal for the fish, 100w max, but better 2 50w.
 
I guess you just need to trust the thermostat.
