Curently i have a 175g tank set up for 6 or 7 years now and i got a 300g tank in my garage (cant fit in door) once i get the door widened i am moving it in. Also how would 3 blue tangs and 3 yellow tangs fair together in a tank? Ok but i need suggestions on the tank for what i should put in it my old 175g will be the sump. I would like to have the whole back wall lined with rock but i would also like a stingray so let me know your idea on what should go in it and would a stingray find it suitable with rock in it?

300g is big, but I don't know about stingray big... I'd have bunches of large Tangs including the ones you mentioned and a Naso tang for sure. I'd probably also keep a few schools of Anthias and a bunch of Fairy Wrasses. Just me though

Ok stingray sill still remain a dream. But tangs are one of my favs and i am debating on whether or not i should buy a sw black gold rim tang they are so beautiful i saw one at my lfs today. Heh i had 3 purple anthiasas and i couldnt get em to eat but after a week my eel got them and i plan to have 1 or multiple eels. there also my favs. Awsome to feed em.

you should be careful when adding rock with stingray's some rock will be fine but stingrays can get cut very easily and you dont want that just make sure the rock doesnt look like if a sting ray hit it it would get cut.

Well i was hoping to house a stingray and several eels and some larger tangs and i cannot forgot my clown fish who has yet to be eaten or be killed he is 6 years old and still going strong. I was hoping to put a wall of rock against the back of the glass ,but I was hopeing to find a ray that was between 12 to 16 inches wide so he would have plenty of room to move around despite having lr.

A 300 gallon could easily be large enough for a smaller ray, depending on dimensions (the smaller ones available get to around 8-10" disc size) but eels tend to make less than perfect tank mates. Also, you don't want a lot of rocks in the main tank so consider a wet dry and live rock sump system with a huge skimmer.

If you are seriously considering a 300 gallon tank and are interested in rays then borrow/buy a copy of Scott Michael's Aquarium Sharks and Rays. The book is a little small on minimum sizes, but it gives great info on the Elasmobranches available in the hobby.

300g tank.............. Go with the tangs, go with the tangs I ADORE TANGS but they won't fit in my 24g. Not that I have tried :shifty:.

Best of luck on your planning and looking forward to see how things progress.

Regards

I adore tangs also!!! i am picking up a rare hybrid tang tomorrow. it is called a goldtrim tang. Its mixed with a achilles and some other fish.

That's tough eels or rays!!! i love eels so much but they also eat smaller fish. also can u list the species name for the smaller rays and list their adult size please.

Also the tank is 32 in wde 6ft long and a like 2-4 ft tall
